I Can Feed Myself!

If you have ever heard Dorian say "I can feed myself" it's true!!  His occupational therapist Miss Rhonda recorded his awesome skills today. Look at him go! Click here http://youtu.be/lZ-jqDF-Ya8

Here's some pictures of him playing lately too. He's had a good couple of weeks. He is on Zyrtec to help control his coughing. Some days it makes him super sleepy so we only give it to him at night so that he doesn't sleep all day.

The boys enjoyed sports camps this week at SMU. Their favorite part was having Chris drive them down there every day... Lots of guy talk and lots of Alex singing along to the car tunes. Ben went up to Coach Larry Brown and told him "My papi came to you camp when he was my age" and without skipping a beat coach Brown responded "Yes I remember him!" Cute since Ben doesn't look like Chris at all 😄. Chris was only a little kid when he went to his camp but that was nice that Ben had the chance to meet him and shake his hand.

Alex enjoyed the all-boys soccer camp at SMU, and had bonus swim time at the university pool in the afternoons once the kids were worn out from playing soccer in the heat. Both boys were really careful and picky about what they wore to camp. They even didn't complain about taking long baths/showers after camp. I hope a "pride in personal hygiene" trend is developing!!! Ben made comments about the college girls walking around campus so maybe that is why😍.

End of Year Fun

Today Dorian received the good news that he was promoted to the 1st grade!  His face says it all! His home-bound teacher Miss Carolyn has been wonderful.  Always a ray of sunshine when she comes, he really enjoys her visits.  He doesn't realize he's learning anything, he thinks it all just fun play time but he really has made progress with her.  She told me this week that he was purposely putting the wrong colored objects into the wrong places and looking at her to see what her reaction would be.  He loves to be a stinker.  Which is why he purposely always calls his nurses by the wrong name.  I'll throw Chris under the bus and announce here on this blog that he gets the "I like to mess with people for my own amusement" gene from him.  Ha ha ha

Dori misses his school teachers and classmates at Coyote Ridge and we had tried to go visit them yesterday as a little "field trip" but his respiratory activity was a little strenuous and he had a cough that was bugging him for most of the day so we stayed home playing with his nurse Magahn.

Over Memorial Day weekend Chris took the boys to Chadron, NE for a golf tournament with his life long childhood friends (Bargen, Fish, and Spud) and after the golf tournament they road tripped to Mount Rushmore and Deadwood.  They had a blast!  It's nice when the boys can spend one-on-one time with us.  Before they left Ben was chanting "Man-cation! Man-cation!" and he told me "no offense mami but for the whole trip we're gonna fart, tell jokes and be strong because that's when men do."  I feel sorry for anyone on the plane with them and for Leslie Bargen who was the "house mom" of the Johnson/Bargen/Fish/Spud golf weekend at their home.  The boys made themselves at home and let's just say they picked up after themselves and turned out the lights THERE just as much as they do HERE.  I'm really glad they had such a blast!

We are so crazy proud of Ben and Alex for graduating from 5th grade last night!  I thought I was going to cry but really I'm just thankful this school year is only 1 day away from being over.  I look forward to having them have a fun summer!  They have alot of sports camps scheduled, a trip to the east coast, and I'm sure we'll have a house full of boys at our home every day swimming and spending the night.  Poor Dori will have to adjust to all the craziness but it should be a great time!

Dori stayed home with Miss Marcia while we attended their graduation.  We had Alex convinced that I was going to blow an air horn when he walked out.  He almost started crying.

Alex getting his 5th grade pins and certificate from his nice teach Mrs DePaul. I like how she reinforced to him that he was tidy because when he organizes his stuff at home he says "Miss DePaul says I'm like her, I like things perfectly organized and tidy"

Ben getting his pins and certificate from his teacher Mrs Pierce.  I would personally like to give her a bottle of strong liquor for being his teacher this year.  She earned it.

June 2nd marked Wynnie's 6 month heavenly anniversary.  We've been so swamped with work and end-of-school-year events that sadly it didn't even occur to me.  I feel pretty guilty for that.  I've never had a problem remembering death anniversaries because my parent's heavenly anniversary is always on my birthday.  But I hope and pray that Wynnie can feel our love and know how much we miss him.  Ben had a friend over and they were talking about all the rain and lightening storms we've had and Ben said "I wouldn't be scared to die because I can't wait to see my baby brother Wynnie in heaven!"  We are so proud of all of our Johnson boys!!  Love love love them all!
